Carp Stocked in Lake!

The carp were stocked in the Lake on May 12, 2016.  Our President Rick Leone wrote to members

I would also like to share some good news.  As planned, the town completed the stocking of 600 Grass Carp into Lake Oscawana on Thursday, May 12.   Several of our Board Members were in attendance and had the pleasure of releasing the carp into the lake.  Our town officials held a brief ceremony following the event, and our town videographer Maryann Arrien was there to record it.  We’ll notify you when the Video is released.  In addition, our Board Member John Lafata has put together a photo album that you can access by visiting this link:  https://goo.gl/photos/QEerjpBv87ZFfxKZA.  On behalf of our Board, I would again like to thank our current and former Town Supervisors, Sam Oliverio and Bob Tendy, and all of the town officials who helped make this happen.

In the meantime, I would like to remind everyone that the carp are still small and it will take some time, possibly one to two years, before we see any benefit from their introduction into the lake.  The town will continue to use the harvester to control weeds.  And to all of our fishermen, if you accidentally catch one of the carp, please gently return it to the water so that it can continue its work.
